PUBLIC Campus 2016 @ Curtin

Tellas creates murals which serve as personal and intimate interpretations of natural landscapes. Born in Cagliari, Sardinia, and educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Tellas has developed his art in various fields including drawing, painting, installations, printing techniques and audio-video productions.

His work is somewhere between abstract and figurative, and he describes his subject as often reflecting a subtle analysis of nature. The mural is an abstraction of the Australian landscape radiating out from the central green of the coastline plants to the yellow of the dry soil and arid desert. From wet to dry.

Australia has extensive varieties of plants and trees, and this was one of the first things I noticed about it. I liked the idea of starting from the green and moving gradually to the warm shades of the desert. There is an area in Western Australia called the Pinnacles, I think this place has given me a lot of inspiration for the artwork.
