ENHANCING OUR ECONOMY

Making our campus, community
and economy greater

Curtin University is an important part of the State’s economy, contributing approximately 1% of Western Australia’s gross state product in 2016 through a range of stimulants including job creation and research opportunities.

HOW DOES CURTIN CONTRIBUTE?

Curtin can measure economic contributions directly through employment, operational spending, capital projects and student and visitor spending. But there are also significant indirect and hard-to-measure contributions.

INDIRECT CONTRIBUTIONS

Curtin creates thousands jobs as a result of increased activity in the area. The University boosts the local skill base and workforce productivity through education and research opportunities, and by unlocking jobs in new technologies.

By providing community infrastructure such as John Curtin Art Gallery and the Curtin Stadium and sporting fields, the University attracts people to the area and stimulates the communities around campus economically, socially and culturally.

A THRIVING STUDENT POPULATION

Curtin had over 50,000 enrolments in 2017, with most studying at our Perth campus – not just increasing the vibrancy of the area, but also greatly contributing to its economy.

Curtin’s campuses in Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore boost the University’s strong international focus. The University also has agreements to deliver courses at educational institutions in Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Indonesia.
