B117 Upgrade

  • 117 Building

  • Jan 2022 Commenced

  • Dec 2022 Due

B117 is a key Plant Room structure supplying gas and water to the Perth Campus core.
Earmarked for completion in December 2022, Building 117 will undergo functional upgrade works to support forecasted heating and cooling requirements of the campus, along with receiving an uplift to the building’s façade and surrounds.

Due to the location of Building 117, there will be minor disruptions to pedestrian access along Brand Drive. Please follow the on-campus wayfinding signs for alternate access.

Project Features

  • Extension of the existing building to include a new plant room
  • Two new water heaters to increase the capacity of existing services
  • Upgrades to existing ground mains pipework
  • New gas pipework from the campus boundary to B117 and associated metering
  • Installation of screening façade treatment to provide a cosmetic upgrade
  • Installation of a roof deck to accommodate future services

Project Benefits

These upgrades will futureproof campus requirements by increasing the University’s weather heating capacity and allowing for improved maintenance of facilities, to accommodate further development and improve operational efficiency in line with the Greater Curtin Master Plan. The materials chosen for the building’s external screen will echo those being used in the facade of the TL Robertson Library refurbishment. This will assist to create an aesthetically cohesive and considered visual environment across campus.
